As a healing guide I am relational, nurturing, and imaginative, with a dash of humor and a sprinkling of science-enthusiasm. I seek to be my genuine, human self in our time together and to provide a truly nonjudgmental space where you can feel free to discover and be wholly, authentically you.
Soul Sessions are very body+emotion+insight oriented, grounded in compassion, and held with an understanding of the often misguided & oppressive societal systems and mindsets we live within. You and your patterns and struggles make sense based on what’s come before this moment and the contexts you’ve been surrounded by. Our process of change looks like building compassionate awareness of why you are the ways that you are, appreciating that your body and mind have been working to protect you from perceived harm, and from that place of compassionate understanding, deciding if & how you’d like to change based on your values and who you feel called to be underneath all those learned protective mechanisms. All throughout this process, we are exploring tools that help your body and mind feel regulated and to connect more compassionately with yourself, others, and the world around you.
When it comes to tools, I use what I’ve learned as both a meditation teacher and a therapist. Some of my favorite tools to share and explore are mindfulness, breathwork and guided meditations, somatic techniques & understanding how your body is connected and responding to your experiences, building awareness of internalized shame and its roots, cultivating & embodying thoughts and feeling-states that help you feel supported from within and move in the directions you are seeking, and a lot of creative and imaginative parts work (inner child visualizations and healing, externalizing and talking to your parts, re-parenting yourself, etc.).
Another essential tool in my toolbox is spirituality. I choose to look at life and its challenges through a spiritual lens, where every experience offers us the opportunity to wake up & remember our soul/spirit/interconnectedness with Life. Every challenge can be seen as an invitation to grow more expansive on our soul’s journey, and even our most painful emotional moments can serve as powerful instigators of change, transformation, and re-connection. I also love sharing ideas of Buddhist psychology, karma, and the subtle/energy body (like the chakra system) for those who are interested. I recognize that spirituality means something different to each person, and I support spiritual sovereignty & I will never force any idea or belief system upon you. I offer spiritually-inspired ideas for you to experiment with and see if they connect with your experiences and offer some relief. I offer the connection of the spiritual in this space because I’ve found in my own journey that spirituality has been one of the biggest helpers for connecting with my body, releasing the tight grip of anxiety, worry, doubt, and fear, and accepting my present-moment truth and experience.
Finally, I’ve found that clients can achieve their greatest potential when they are active explorers and collaborators in their healing journeys; when they come with experiences, patterns, and habits they’d like to understand and perhaps shift; when they are open to connecting with their inner-truth in imaginative ways; and when they understand that healing is often a non-linear journey. I encourage you to shape this process and relationship so it works for you.
Let’s Go Outside!
Healing with nature and movement in Portland, Oregon
“If we surrendered to earth's intelligence
we could rise up rooted, like trees.”
— Rainer Maria Rilke
If you’re anything like me, living nestled amongst the mighty mountains, magnificent evergreens, and beautiful, bountiful bodies of water is one of the most magical parts of being in the Pacific Northwest. You can feel it when you pause and tune in— this land is deeply sacred and wild at heart. (Just like us.)
Being and moving outside in nature is of benefit to our minds, bodies, and spirits in so many ways. Join me in the great outdoors as we invite nature to hold and guide us through our healing work together.
Benefits of being/walking outside while healing:
Reduces stress chemicals and tension in our bodies
Increases feel-good chemicals and relaxation in our bodies
Offers grounding perspectives and experiences
Walking = Bilateral stimulation (good for regulating the nervous system)
A more active and freeing way to process and release emotions
Encourages awe, curiosity, and mindfulness
Increases mind+body awareness
Movement included
Helps improve sleep
Boosts our creativity, focus and attention, & problem-solving abilities
Learning from nature
Organically attuning ourselves to the Earth & its seasons
Seeing ourselves reflected and connected in nature
We don’t have to make direct eye contact the whole time!
