Hi there! I’m Kelsey, and I’m so glad you landed here. I’m a therapist, meditation teacher, and cosmic explorer living in Portland, Oregon. I grew up in rural Ohio, and since then I’ve been honored to have lived and loved around the globe and country before moving to Oregon in 2020. My journeys and connections have imbued in me a profound reverence for the unique experiences of all groups and individuals, and at the same time, the unshakable knowing that we are all deeply connected. My passionate belief that we humans actually can honor, understand, and connect with each other across cultures & experiences is what brought me into the field of therapy.
After my master’s program in clinical mental health counseling, I dove headfirst into meditation teacher training. I was amazed and delighted to find that so many of the tools and ideas of modern therapy have existed within meditation and spiritual traditions for thousands of years!
Therapy opened the door to healing and compassion for me. Meditation and spirituality are what truly helped me embody a felt sense of wholeness, joy, connection, and contentment.
I started Cosmic Reflections because I wanted to create a healing space that I felt was missing from the mainstream, and that shared all the tools that have been essential in my own healing journey. A sacred space that combines the empowering science of psychology and the healing magic of the 1:1 relationship, the sense of interconnectedness, courage, and trust that spirituality fosters, and the deep community and understanding of self that a reflective practice like meditation helps to grow. Welcome in.
I hold a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University, am a professional counselor associate in the state of Oregon, a nationally certified counselor, and have worked for 5+ years as a mental health therapist. I am currently being supervised by Rhoberta E. Michaels, a Licensed Professional Counselor. My orientations and trainings from the therapy world include spiritual existential-humanism, positive and strength-based psychology, Internal Family Systems, somatic therapy, attachment-based therapy, and an intersectional feminist/systemic lens.
I also hold a 350-hour certification as a meditation teacher from Hamsa Meditation Center and have been teaching meditation since 2023. My meditation background and training includes traditions of mindfulness, various forms of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Yogic traditions. My spiritual background and education is varied (I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies from the College of Wooster), but I’ve spent the most time connecting with philosophies of Daoism, Buddhism, Hinduism/Yoga, Western astrology, and Celtic/Northern European magical traditions. I love learning and I welcome your spiritual beliefs, traditions, and practices into our sacred space as we explore what spirituality means to you.
Other things I love: Learning and philosophizing about life and being human, daydreaming, journaling and writing, marveling at nature, hanging out with my tarot and oracle cards, reveling in good food, listening to music from across time and space, dancing wholeheartedly, finding reasons to celebrate, escaping into fantasy books, exploring my queerness, being a hermit, connecting wholeheartedly with other humans, and hanging out with my two fluffy cats, Freya & Yuri.
This work is healing for the self and soul, for our relationships, and for our global community. I look forward to your company on this shared path to discovery, connection, and healing!
